Biography
Born in South Carolina, USA to an American father and Japanese mother, he was raised in Okinawa from the age of 2.
He studied tattooing and Japanese carving since he was a teenager, and later got interested in Western carving, becoming self-taught in a wide variety of tattoos.
He also had an experience of apprenticeship as a Buddhist statue sculptor at an atelier in Kyoto for 4 and a half years, and the "Sense" and "Artistry" he acquired there are reflected in every detail of his tattoos.
In 2012, he opened "Tattoo Studio Ray’s" in Kyoto. He has been working on a wide range of tattoos from Japanese to Western carving, black and gray, tribal and Chicano, etc.
As of 2022, he got global attention from diverse customers.
He is the best in Japan at “White Tattooing” with his advanced techniques.
He has a unique, mild-mannered, and friendly personality, but his uncompromising workmanship has earned him the trust of his clients.
Currently, he is not only a tattoo artist, but also an apparel designer for the brand "RAYS", which was created by "Tattoo Studio Ray’s".
Studio
The 2nd floor has a chic interior with two clean and comfortable beds for your tattoo treatment.
The 3rd floor is a white based sophisticated atmosphere, and is a dedicated space for Daniel , where you can relax and get your tattoo done in a completely private space.
Furthermore, a wall-to-wall projector with strong vision / sound entertains you during the process on the 2nd and 3rd floors, so you can spend your tattooing time in comfort.
Our studio, one of the largest in Japan, has a thorough hygiene control system, and even first-timers can receive tattoo treatments in a safe and comfortable space.
RAYS is a brand launched by Daniel Ray Brewster from TATTOO STUDIO Ray’s in May 2016.
The works created by his insatiable passion and exploration resonate with your pursuit against life of grind,and take your shades away.
It will continue to pursue works of art that are clothed in "elegance" and "strength" with the "Sense" and "Artistry" that have been cultivated and supported by Buddhist statue sculpture and Tattoo.

- We do not accept persons under the age of 19 (high school students are not accepted).
- We do not accept treatment for those who do not have the manners and language, and respect.
- When making an appointment, we will ask for a deposit of a portion of the treatment fee. On the day of the treatment, we check the balance of the total treatment fee minus the deposit.
